This past weekend had all the elements of being the PERFECT weekend…beautiful weather….yummy food…..AND AWESOME SALES!
This big box of vintage/antique photos was found at an estate sale where the cruddy stuff was priced too high…and the good stuff priced low. This whole box was$10.00. There was a photo album in this box that contains the childhood life of a boy from the early 1920’s until the 1940’s. I am trying to play “detective” to see if I can locate someone to give this to….it’s an amazing amount of photographic work. Sadly…it was at some point put into one of those horrible albums where the back of the pictures “stick” to the pages….I’m hoping I can get a couple off without tearing.
I went to another estate sale (there were TONS of them this weekend). The adult children of the woman who passed away were running it. I felt badly for them. I never haggle at these kind of sales as they have enough emotions to overcome without someone coming in trying to get something for nothing. Which a lot of people were doing. The woman was really into crafts and had been a painter at some point. I walked into her craft room and saw what had to be 200+ bottles of acrylic paint. I paint and have been working on a project until I ran out of paint. The guy seemed relieved that someone was taking it all. Seriously, I will never run out of paint again…and this isn’t even all of it. I was able to get a few more things at that sale…including 20 outdoor solar lights. Which again…was something on my landscaping list.
On the way home, I stopped at one more sale….this was a couple who set up at the Mt. Dora Flea Market (very cool stuff there!)….and their sale was awesome. I grabbed some great metal garden thingys…and this awesome vintage green box…which will have the plants in a permanent container this afternoon.
And while I could say the weekend was without disappointment…there was one event that I attended on Saturday that has inspired a future post titled “How NOT to Run a Book Sale”. ‘Nuf said.
Hope you have a great week of treasure hunting! Check out Apron Thrift Girl’s blog today for some goodies other people found!
