Hi Rebecca…..this past week i found a set of childrens books….8 books make the set…..they were 1.50 each making the set 12.00…..my question is do I list them on ebay or amazon …..The set is Book Trails on the highroad to adventure….the coypright says 1928,1946….is that how i list it? they are worn but not mutilated……they are leather bound books….how should I clean them???? I need all the help I can get!!!!Thanks…..

    • Hi Claudia!
Sorry for the delay…I was up north for a few days!
I looked on Amazon and on Ebay. Ebay has fewer of the full sets….it looks like they sold one recently. Amazon has quite a few. I think the answer lies in how long you are satisfied with them sitting. If you want a quick turn around for your money…try an auction near the holidays. If you can afford to sit on them…try a buy it now or Amazon. Leather books can be fragile and sometimes dry out.Start with a dry, soft clean rag. If that catches most of the dirt/build up, then you’re good. Just go easily and slowly. If really soiled, you can A) leave them like that and let the listing indicate it. B) Look up on the internet how to SAFELY clean leatherbound books. There are many schools of thought…and different ways to clean. Choose the one you feel most comfortable with.

Hope this helps a little. Thanks for the question!

With so many venues to list items you have for sale, how do you choose the best one for each type of item?
What should one consider to make that decision?
Are there ever good reasons to use a more specialized marketplace?

    • I usually sell my items on the venue that has the most buyers for those kinds of items. (I.E-Cute vintage items are good on Etsy, clothing is good on Ebay, rare books are good on Amazon, furniture is good on Craigslist, etc)

If you have a specific item and its highly collectible….selling on a venue that has fans/collectors/experts on that particular item is just good.

The name of the game is to sell it and sell it as fast as possible while still making it worth your while. Wherever the buyers are, that’s where you put your item.

      Great question!
